just told me I look like a 21st century James Dean.
Best. Compliment. Ever.
It’s been a while. I felt the need to blog.
I had my first Broadway Audition today.
Got up at 7….Okay, Let me rephrase. I WOKE UP at 7, but I didn’t get anything done until 7:30….I digress. So I practiced songs, ate breakfast, made myself look nice, etc. Got up there at 10.
I was the first person there, actually.
So I ended up meeting this really nice girl auditioning and then some more people filtered in and we all kind of chatted. It was nice. There was no conceitedness, no cattiness. It was just chill people introducing each other. I feel like that’s rare in an audition setting?
Anyway…I see a guy go inside with some Starbucks drinks assuming it’s the assistant.
However, after filing out the sign in sheet and going in, I realized it was actually the casting director. He carries his own coffee? That’s pretty cool!
So I go in and sing “I believe” and I flubbed a few of the words but managed to make it work and kept going through the song.
I got done and he goes, “I love that you goofed up some of the words but you made it work and kept going through. That stuff happens in shows too.” Then he proceeded to tell me a story about the time a guy in Book of Mormon started singing the parody lyrics (the cast had made up) by accident on stage one night…And he kept rolling along.
SO then he had me read a side for Price and said Thanks.
Hopefully that’s a good thing! I’m glad I went regardless. I feel all grown up now.
I just met a guy I really connected with intellectually and physically.
